Early Life:
Eric was born in Chicago, Illinois, raised by his mother and older sister after the tragic death of his father, a police officer, due to gun violence. Growing up in an anti-gun household, Eric had little interest in firearms and was unaware of gun culture in his community.
Education and Interests:
With a passion for mechanics, Eric excelled in science throughout his schooling. He relocated to Hampton, Virginia, as a teenager, where he attended Bethel High School alongside NBA star Allen Iverson. Initially drawn to music, Eric was immersed in the vibrant local scene.
Journey into Gunsmithing:
Eric's interest in firearms blossomed during the COVID-19 pandemic. After losing his ID and facing delays with DMV services, a friend introduced him to The Marksman, where he received exceptional support. As he explored online gun auctions, Eric acquired several firearms, but a delay in obtaining his concealed carry permit led to a months-long wait for his guns, which led to a loyal relationship.
He began learning about firearms through YouTube and discovered Polymer 80 kits, which inspired him to build his own guns. Eric joined a Reddit group focused on P80 building, where he shared tips and gained recognition for his skills, despite initially following tutorials without formal training.
Formal Education:
To deepen his knowledge, Eric enrolled in the Sonoran Desert Institute's gunsmith program in May 2022. He graduated with Cum Laude honors and later earned an Associate's degree in Firearms Technology, again with Cum Laude honors. In 2024, he completed the Handgun Specialist program with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Current Role:
In a full-circle moment, Eric joined The Marksman as their resident gunsmith shortly after graduation. He embraces the continuous learning process and dreams of building custom firearms that leave a lasting impact on the industry. Inspired by legends like John Moses Browning and Gaston Glock, Eric aspires to create a firearm that will one day be showcased at The Marksman.
